The prestigious recognition highlights UPUS’ contributions towards employee welfare, industrial relations, and workforce advocacy, while also reflecting Pos Malaysia’s continued commitment to constructive union engagement, employee well-being, and workforce sustainability.
The award was presented by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and received on behalf of UPUS by its President, Tuan Haji Ismail Ali, and Secretary, Tuan Haji Nikmatullah Bin Abu Bakar Citi.
Also present were YB Dato’ Sri Ramankrishnan, Minister of Human Resources; YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development; YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus bin Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources; and Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the

“This award is especially meaningful because it reflects the progress we have made in building a workplace where employees feel heard, supported and empowered to grow. At Pos Malaysia, we believe strong employee relations are essential to organisational resilience and long-term success, especially for a national service provider whose people play a vital role in connecting communities and businesses across the country. We are proud of this achievement and will continue to foster an inclusive environment where our people can thrive,” said Natalia Navin, Group Chief People Officer Pos Malaysia.
UPUS President Tuan Haji Ismail Ali expressed appreciation to the Government for the recognition and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Pos Malaysia.
“We thank the Government for recognising us as the Best Trade Union in the Private Sector. This recognition reflects the dedication of our union members and the strong industrial relationship we have built with Pos Malaysia. Through close cooperation and mutual respect, we have been able to champion workers’ welfare and work constructively with Pos Malaysia and government agencies for the benefit of employees. We value this relationship and remain committed to strengthening collaboration in support of the workforce and the organisation’s future,” he said.
The collaboration between Pos Malaysia and UPUS has played a significant role in strengthening frontline workforce engagement and operational commitment, resulting in measurable service improvements. In 2025, delivery performance improved to 92% for parcels and 95% for mail, demonstrating how strong labour-management relations can drive operational excellence while delivering value to employees, customers, communities, and the wider organisation.
The award also reflects UPUS’ ongoing commitment to advancing workers’ rights and well-being while fostering strong industrial relations with Pos Malaysia. It recognises the union’s role in building employee solidarity, protecting members’ interests, and supporting the resilience of Malaysia’s postal and logistics industry.
This recognition further underscores the importance of strong employee relations in supporting Pos Malaysia’s nationwide operations and long-term sustainability. It reflects the company’s collaborative approach to employee engagement, grounded in open dialogue, shared responsibility, and continuous support for employee well-being.
The achievement also reinforces Pos Malaysia’s responsible employment practices and broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) priorities, while creating sustainable long-term value for both its workforce and the business.
The Best National Trade Union Award is among the highest honours presented during the National Workers’ Day celebration. Recipients are evaluated by the Department of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS) and an appointed evaluation panel based on leadership, union management, industrial relations, worker welfare initiatives, and contributions to national workforce development.
Held under the theme “Pekerja MADANI Kesuma Bangsa”, the 2026 celebration highlighted the important role workers play in national development, as well as the importance of tripartite cooperation between the government, employers, and employees.
UPUS’ achievement reflects the continued importance of trade unions in building a stable, progressive, and inclusive work environment for Malaysia’s workforce.
