SJPP and SPIN Communications Highlights The 'Phenomenon' of Seasonal Businesses This Raya

by: Nathalie Tay

Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Berhad (SJPP), a company owned by Minister of Finance (Incorporated), tasked with helping Malaysian businesses get access to financing has launched its 2026 Raya campaign, which kicks off with its first-ever Raya film, titled “Fenomena Ramadan”.

Inspired by the festive ‘phenomenon’ where many small businesses briefly emerge to meet the surge in demand – only to disappear once the season ends, this charming and insightful film focuses on themes such as rezeki, perseverance and strength in silaturahim.

“Fenomena Ramadan” follows the journey of three best friends – Mira, Sofia and Emma – who pour their hearts and ideas into making their entrepreneurial dream a reality.

But as the business grows, so do their differences. Clashing ideas spark tension, which drives them apart – each venturing out with bold new food creations of their own. The rivalry simmers, until an unexpected yet delightful incident creates a new ‘phenomenon’ thus reminding them of a simple truth: they’ve always been at their best, together.

This marks a strategic shift in SJPP’s communications strategy – moving from technical product-speak to emotional storytelling, to humanise the brand and reach Malaysia’s aspiring entrepreneurs.

Bridging the “Collateral Gap” through Storytelling

As the Malaysian economy enters a high-growth phase following the Budget 2026 announcement, which raised SJPP’s guarantee limit to a historic RM30 billion, many businesses remain unaware of the support available.

A Multi-Channel Approach for the 2026 Entrepreneur

Produced by lead creative agency SPIN Communications, in collaboration with production partner Minerva Productions and food influencers @soyabelacan, the film’s narrative highlights the resilience of three young women entrepreneurs with a vision to scale their business beyond the festive window – made possible with the right support from SJPP.

“In the marketing world, we often talk about ‘brand trust.’ This Raya, we’re shining a light on the ‘silent partner’ behind your favourite local businesses. For SJPP, trust is when a business owner leaves the bank with confidence – knowing that he or she has a Government-backed guarantee, even without traditional collateral,” said Chit Quah, Managing Director, SPIN Communications.
