MOVA & tiket.com Prepare Free Ticket Program To Encourage Smart Travel Habits

According to statista.com, the Malaysian travel & tourism market is currently estimated to grow significantly in the coming years. Revenue in this sector is projected to reach US$6.85 billion by the end of 2025. Furthermore, it is expected to grow at an annual rate of 10.88%, reaching $11.48 billion by the year 2030.

The Tour Operators segment is expected to be the largest in the market, with its revenue projected to reach MYR 16.05 million users by the end of 2025. By 2030, the number of users in the Tour Operators segment is expected to increase to 16.05 million users, with a user penetration rate of 66.0%. Therefore, MOVA and tiket.com are collaborating to meet the needs of Malaysian customers and travelers for the revitalization of Malaysian tourism.

The Malaysian Government has announced a 13% to 14% discount on economy class domestic airfares. This reduction is valid for travel occurring between December 22, 2025, and January 10, 2026. This initiative, which includes measures like tax cuts, lower fuel surcharges, and reduced airport fees, continues a trend of providing travel support during busy holiday seasons, similar to the 10% discount offered last year.

This policy aims to make air travel more readily available to Malaysian households. Furthermore, by reducing travel costs, the measure serves as a way to reduce consumer burdens amidst elevated living costs and global uncertainty. This economic relief is also expected to drive activity in travel, hospitality, and associated services (such as logistics), thereby maintaining stable domestic demand. Ultimately, this effort underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the national economy and consumer spending in sectors that are sensitive to external factors and fluctuating seasonal needs.
