TVB Malaysia Unveils Original Cantonese Chinese New Year Song

by: Nathalie Tay

As the Lunar New Year draws near, TVB Malaysia proudly presents its brand-new original Cantonese festive track, “All In For The New Year”, specially crafted for the Year of the Horse.

Featuring eight emerging artistes who join voices for the very first time, the song promises to kick-start the festive season with joy, blessings and auspicious vibes for audiences nationwide.

The song is performed by eight TVB Malaysia artistes: Rax Teh, Xair Pang, Andy Lau, Alan Seow, Ezen Chan , Zev Leong, Vincent Tan and Tyrell Low.

With its bright, catchy melody and energetic arrangement, the track blends traditional New Year elements with youthful dynamism, encapsulating the spirit of good fortune, joy and prosperity while also marking a new milestone for TVB Malaysia in content innovation and local creative development.

Proudly presented by UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) and Armani Group, special thanks to Starbucks Malaysia and Spritzer Malaysia. The song is composed by Madison Lau with lyrics by Jue Ying.

The inspiration stemmed from Madison Lau Cantonese-speaking friends who frequently use the expression “hou gan yiu” (“so important” or “such a big deal”). The phrase, familiar and endearing, sparked his idea to create a uniquely Cantonese New Year song.

Given the limited number of Cantonese festive tracks in the market, he hopes this new creation will accompany families through the New Year with heartfelt blessings and eventually become a long-lasting classic.

The music video (MV) for “All In For The New Year” has officially been completed, marking a key milestone in this year’s CNY campaign.

It features lively, heartwarming scenes infused with vibrant festive colours, complemented by the spirited performances of all eight artistes. Together with playful choreography and cheerful visual elements, the MV delivers a festive experience that is as joyful visually as it is musically.

The MV and full song will officially premiere on 8 January and are expected to spark a new wave of Cantonese New Year fever across Malaysia positioning it as one of the most anticipated original festive releases of the season.
