Google I/O 2025 Unveils Next-Gen AI Innovations…

Google I/O 2025 has opened the door to a bold new era of technology, where AI becomes the most helpful AI that’s more intelligent, agentic and personalized. From powering your workday and enhancing your shopping experience to unlocking creativity and simplifying everyday tasks, Google‘s next-generation AI tools are built to enrich how we think, learn, and express ourselves.

Here are five key highlights we think Malaysians will be most excited about:

AI in Search: Going beyond information to intelligence

Search just got a major upgrade with the launch of AI Mode, bringing more advanced reasoning, multimodal understanding, and the ability to dive deeper through follow-up questions and curated web links. New features like Deep Search can generate expert-level, fully-cited reports in minutes, while agentic capabilities help you complete real-world tasks like booking tickets or making restaurant reservations.

By bringing Project Astra’s live capabilities into Search, Search Live allows users to engage in real-time, back-and-forth conversations with Search using their phone’s camera. Simply point your camera at a question, object, or problem, and get instant explanations, suggestions, and helpful links.

Whether you’re stuck on a school project or navigating daily errands, Search is evolving from an information tool into an interactive, visual learning partner.

Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing is now available for free on Android and iOS

No more back-and-forth typing. With Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing, you can now just point your camera at what you need help with and talk it through. Need to fix a home appliance, ask for style advice, or explain your homework problem? Show it to Gemini and get real-time support.

In the coming weeks, Gemini Live will integrate more deeply with core Google apps such as Maps, Calendar, Tasks, and Keep, enabling users to schedule events, manage to-do lists, and get directions — all without leaving the Gemini interface.

Gemini’s helpful side also shines when it comes to studying. Just ask it to create a quiz, walk you through your answers or help you brush up on tough topics. Whether you’re cramming for finals or revising on the go, it’s designed to support your learning style and keep things stress-free. This feature is rolling out today to all Gemini users globally, on both desktop and mobile.

Smarter Shopping and Seamless Multitasking

With AI Mode, Google is turning your browser into a multitasking machine through Project Mariner, which can juggle everything from booking concert tickets and planning weekend getaways to comparing options across the web — all from a single request. Just say what you need, and Gemini takes care of the heavy lifting so you don’t have to.

And when it comes to shopping, AI Mode is just as savvy. It taps into Google’s Shopping Graph to help you browse billions of products, try on outfits virtually with just a photo, and even buy what you love when the price drops. It’s like having a personal shopper who knows your style, watches your budget, and handles the checkout — no stress, no switching tabs.

Flow: A New AI Tool for Effortless Filmmaking

Google introduced Flow, an AI-powered creative tool that simplifies the process of filmmaking. Built with Google’s most advanced generative models — Veo, Imagen, and Gemini — Flow allows creators to produce cinematic-quality clips using natural language prompts.

Users can add special effects, adjust camera angles, generate dialogue, and manage creative assets without needing advanced editing skills. Flow is currently available in the United States and will expand to more countries in the coming months, opening new possibilities for storytellers and digital creators across the region.

A new look at how Android XR will bring Gemini to glasses and headsets

Google announced a significant update to its wearable technology platform with the launch of Android XR, which brings Gemini’s capabilities to next-generation smart glasses and headsets.

In partnership with eyewear brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, these new devices combine form and function — allowing users to send messages, make appointments, get directions, and take photos hands-free. Developers will be able to begin building for the Android XR platform later this year.

TIME TO ENTER APPIES

The APPIES is an annual event that presents a rare opportunity for creative, media, digital and marketing agencies or brands to present their best campaigns to the industry.

This is the only event where Live Presentations meets Live Judging.

Similar to TED Talks, The APPIES is the chance for great presenters with outstanding work to show it off to some of the industry’s most important industry leaders.

This year’s winners will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze trophies for 21 categories, and 6 special Best of Best categories (red trophies) that require no submissions!

Campaign entries must have run between June 2024 to May 2025
