Monster Curry Hits KL. Bring Friends, Not Plates.

by: THE HAMMER

Monster Curry has officially arrived in Malaysia, opening at The Gardens Mall in KL. And when a brand calls itself “Monster,” you don’t expect a quiet soft launch.

You expect a curry that walks in first, then the staff, then your appetite, then your diet resigns on the spot.

This is Singapore’s award-winning Japanese curry chain, loved for two things Malaysians respect deeply. Big flavour and even bigger portions. Their signature demi-glace curry sauce is deep, dark, rich brown and simmered with 14 vegetables and spices. Fourteen.

That’s not “ingredients.” That’s a whole taman association meeting, all boiled down into one dramatic sauce.

And the plates. Let’s talk plates. Monster Curry serves curry on 35cm and 41cm platters.

In Malaysia, that’s not a plate. That’s a landing strip.

You don’t just order this meal. You apply for it. When it arrives, your table becomes a geopolitical event.

People nearby will lean over and whisper, “What is that,” like they’ve just spotted a rare animal in the wild.

Raymond Ng, Managing Director of EN Group, says they’re thrilled to introduce Malaysians to their signature curry, crispy katsu, and iconic super-sized platters.

Also, because Malaysians love spice, Monster Curry comes with different spice levels for the adventurous.

Translation. Choose your own pain. Level 1 is “friendly.” Level 3 is “I’m sweating but I’m still smiling.” Level 5 is “I’ve seen God and he’s holding a napkin.”

After more than 13 years of operations, Monster Curry’s mission has been simple. Serve exceptional Japanese curry that’s satisfying and accessible, and create a dining experience that brings people together. Which is true, because one platter this size can bring together a family, two cousins, and a stranger from the next table who suddenly becomes your best friend.

So yes, Monster Curry is now in Malaysia. Come hungry. Leave happy.

And if anyone asks why you’re ordering a plate the size of a steering wheel, just say, “It’s cultural.”
