In conjunction with this year’s Deepavali celebration, Air Selangor presents a short film titled ‘Demi Deepa‘, an inspiring story that highlights the sacrifice, hope, and journey of Uncle Ganesan’s family as they navigate life’s challenges to fulfill his daughter Deepa’s dream of becoming a doctor.
Filled with positive messages and subtle reminders about mental health awareness, ‘Demi Deepa‘ is inspired by the real-life story of Dr. Malar Santhi, a medical doctor and social media influencer well-known for her useful health tips and her eloquence in communicating in Bahasa Melayu.
The seven-minute short film also features a special appearance by Dr. Malar herself, alongside actor Amirul Affendy, who previously appeared in Air Selangor’s Chinese New Year and Hari Raya short films, continuing the ‘Happiness’ theme that runs through Air Selangor’s festive short film series.

Elina Baseri, Head of Corporate Communications of Air Selangor said, “We are honoured to share this inspiring story through ‘Demi Deepa‘. This film not only showcases a father’s sacrifice for his daughter but also underscores the importance of good mental health in shaping a positive outlook on life.”
“Through our festive campaign series themed ‘Happiness’, we hope to inspire viewers to cherish every moment of joy with their families and remain optimistic in facing life’s challenges,” Elina added.
‘Demi Deepa‘ also embodies the true spirit of Deepavali, the festival of lights that dispels darkness, where sacrifice brings forth hope, and love kindles happiness within a family.
