What I mean, isn’t necessarily what’ve written, emails decoded
What you read isn’t always to be taken literally. Here are nine popularly used email phrases decoded that border on passive-aggressive according to a survey conducted by Adobe:-
‘Not sure if you saw my last email’
Maybe you were out gallivanting or on a date, or with family, either way I don’t care, I am more important. Work until you drop dead.
‘Per my last email’
Somehow by me using the word ‘per’ it sounds very litigation like which I hope will drive fear into you.
‘Per our conversation’
I am creating a paper trail in case things go belly up everyone will know it’s your fault, it doesn’t matter if in actual fact it’s mine.
‘Any updates on this?’
I am phrasing this as a question because screaming “I DEMAND IMMEDIATE UPDATES!” makes me look crazy.
‘Sorry for the double email’
I am not sorry. I like sending double emails. In fact tomorrow I may even send you a triple email and I won’t be in the least bit sorry.
‘Please advise’
I am washing my hands of this matter entirely. You handle it. I’m dumping it on you now.
‘As previously stated’
How dare you ignore me? It’s not done. Place high importance on anything I have to say or send even if I myself never look at it or read it.
‘As discussed’
Driving fear home. Discussed to be read as demanded.
‘Reattaching for convenience’
I don’t care how full you inbox is I’m clogging it up further with documents you already have. Cry as much as you like at your desk.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.
After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.
We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTT, DOOH, influencer marketing, retail, etc.
Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.
Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.
Collaboration is key: partnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.
Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
