esports fans and competitors have been wondering for the longest time when will there be a major sponsorship deal; specifically, with major sporting brands like Nike. That day has come as Nike now serves as the exclusive sponsor for the League of Legends (LoL) Professional league.
The partnership, spanning over four years, will see Nike provide custom design apparels and footwear. According to Hypebeast, this sponsorship deal commences with immediate effect; this includes outfitting the LoL professional league players with game-day and training gear. Moreover, the sportswear brand wants to use this arrangement as a critical opportunity to bring sports science research into esports.
For Nike, this sponsorship deal will likely result in the development of custom training programmes. The goal is to improve the body and mind of LoL professional players.
Of course, this being Nike, there will also be a full range of apparel and footwear for LoL fans. After all, this is very much about growing the ecosystem. This includes enabling fans to feel like they are closer to the teams they are supporting.
