(marketingmagazine.com.my) – Riding on the wave of the Korean drama series craze, INTI International University & College recently released a two-part comedic parody video series called ‘Descendants of the Sun -#Macha vs #Taeyang”.
The video centres around a boy who finds himself attracted to a girl and wants to impress her but is constantly side lined by Jake, a handsome Korean pop-star looking boy who seems to have the upper hand at everything that transpires during their visit to the girl’s home.
The video creatively infused some of the most memorable moments from the original drama series into the video which ardent fans of the series would recognize.
“The Korean drama scene has always been a popular hit among young Malaysians – from the onset of series like Winter Sonata to more recent ones like My Love from the Star. With Descendants of the Sun having such a huge following, we got our imaginative wheels running and took memorable scenes from the drama series, recreated it with a local feel and set the tone for a comedic love story,” shared Timothy Johnson, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Products & Partnerships of INTI International University & Colleges.
Since its release on the evening of July 12, 2016 the video has garnered over 10,000 views and 76 shares on Facebook with engaging comments from viewers.
The parody video was created in-house by INTI Alumini Jack Chee and Christopher Ng of Grenos Film.

MARKETING Magazine is not responsible for the content of external sites.
After 20 years of evolving technology, shifting market trends, and adapting to changing consumer behaviour, the media landscape has nearly reached saturation.
We’ve optimised to the fullest, providing advertisers with abundant choices across technology, platforms, data-driven marketing, CTV, OTT, DOOH, influencer marketing, retail, etc.
Media specialists have diversified, but with more options comes the challenge of maintaining income growth. The industry is expanding, but revenue isn’t keeping pace.
Now, we’re at a TURNING POINT: time to explore and harness new sustainable revenue streams. While GroupM forecasts a 7.8% global ad revenue growth in 2024, challenges like antitrust regulation, AI and copyright issues, and platform bans persist.
Collaboration is key: partnerships that thrive on synergy, shared values, and aligned goals are becoming increasingly essential.
Hence, the Malaysian Media Conference, in its 20th year, has assembled the partners and players under one roof on October 25 for a day of learning, sharing, and exploring.
