In a celebration of World Skyscraper Day, PETRONAS Twin Towers took the lead by tagging its fellow iconic skyscrapers in Malaysia with heartfelt and playful messages, creating a unique moment of camaraderie within the city’s skyline.
The social media campaign saw KL Tower, Merdeka 118, and Exchange 106 respond, showcasing the spirit of friendly rivalry and mutual respect among Malaysia’s architectural marvels.
Andrew Tan, Executive Creative Director of Fishermen Integrated, shared, “It’s rare to see landmarks as famous as these engaging with each other in such a fun and light-hearted way. We wanted to bring them together to celebrate their role in shaping the skyline while honoring their unique contributions to Malaysia’s cityscape.”
The PETRONAS Twin Towers, Malaysia’s most recognizable skyscraper, shared a playful message with KL Tower: “You are the first to pierce the sky, and I am happy to have followed in your footsteps.” KL Tower responded, “While you two double the height, I’m here keeping the legacy strong.”
Similarly, the Towers acknowledged Merdeka 118, the newest member of the skyline, with a nod to their shared growth: “I remember being able to see over you at one point. Look at you now, all grown up.” Merdeka 118 graciously responded, “We are reaching for the sky inspired by your global footsteps.”
Ismaliza, Acting Director of PETRONAS Twin Towers Visit Experience team, added, “As one of the most iconic landmarks in Malaysia, we are proud to have been part of this unique celebration of World Skyscraper Day.
Our skyline is a symbol of progress, innovation, and unity, and through this campaign, we were able to engage with our fellow architectural giants in a fun and meaningful way.
It’s a reminder that, no matter how high we rise, we continue to be part of something larger — a shared skyline that inspires people across the globe.”
Chong Wei Ling, Head of Social Media at Fishermen Integrated, noted, “The organic engagement and responses from KL Tower, Merdeka 118, and Exchange 106 were a highlight of this campaign.
It was a real conversation between the icons of the city, and the thousands of comments and likes we received show that the audience loved seeing their favorite buildings interact in this way.”
The campaign brought together Malaysia’s architectural giants in a way that had never been done before, sparking joy and conversation among thousands of followers and reaffirming PETRONAS Twin Towers’ position as both a leader and a cultural icon.
As the city’s skyline continues to grow, this friendly collaboration between towers stands as a testament to the unity and inspiration they bring to Kuala Lumpur and beyond.
