Eugene Lee promoted to Regional Director of Marketing at McDonald’s

Moving upwards in McDonald’s from the position of Senior Director of Marketing, Strategy & Insights to now the Regional Director of Marketing (Asia Business Unit), is none of other than the multi-award winner, Eugene Lee.

Eugene has been with McDonald’s Malaysia for almost ten (10) years and rose quickly from when he first joined as a marketing officer in 2009 to his new role today, appointed early this year.

“I’m extremely excited about the new role and it’s a new challenge for me,” said Eugene when asked how he felt being promoted to a regional leadership role. “Especially after 10 years with the local Malaysian market, it will be a great opportunity for me to widen my exposure to both Asia and Global, and learn from the best in the McDonald’s system.”

With a decade of experience, Eugene is the youngest marketing director in McDonald’s Malaysia’s history. He is known for constantly challenging traditional marketing practices, and is a strong advocate of modern and creative ideas, constantly pushing boundaries to propel the international giant’s business forward in Malaysia – and now regionally.

The quality of Eugene’s work so far in McDonald’s can be measured by the several successful marketing campaigns he has executed with his team. He was responsible for the wildly successful campaigns of the recent Ayam Goreng McD craze, the Spicy Korean Burger, 2016’s McChicken #3biteschallenge and most Malaysians’ favourite – the D24 Durian McFlurry.

According to Eugene, his role as Regional Director of Marketing will propel his work further as his source for collaboration and inspiration has been widened. “I will be working closely with the CMOs from other McDonald’s Markets across Asia to consult on each market’s Marketing Strategy & Tactics,” he added.

Eugene was named the CMO of The Year 2018 at the annual Chief Marketing Officer Awards nights. Besides that, his awards include MEA2019 Marketer of the Year, – Best Presenter for APPIES Malaysia 2019 and the Malaysian Omnichannel Marketer of the Year 2018.
