Can something as intangible as an idea or creative concept be protected against infringement?
The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents ( As) of Malaysia is organising a one-day workshop titled "Protect Your Creative ldea" on 30 November at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club to enlighten its members about the parameters of legal security in the advertising industry.
A team of renowned experts from the lP Academy (Singapore), headed by Samuel Seow, a leading authority in the field of intellectual property law, will lead the workshop.
"Our aim is to raise awareness about owning ideas and lP rights in our industry," says Datuk Johnny Mun,4As Vice President. "Creativity is a prime driver in today's global economy. lt's only logicalthat we work towards bridging the gap between creativity and lP and equip our members with the knowledge to protect ideas and innovations."
The 4As, committed to protecting its members' lP rights, is targeting senior management members of advertising agencies to attend the workshop.
"lP rights is complex with many unresolved issues," adds Datuk Mun. "As we strive towards growth through creativity, is it essential that our members are well versed about legal security relating to lP within our industry."
Among the topics that will be covered lntellectual Property Rights, Copyright, Law and lP Protection Strategies.
