Same – Same But Different
Telcos Maxis and Digi released video ads which were funnily similar to one another; (awkward!) they both feature the strong themes of family, community and colour-blind harmony.
Terbang – A Malaysian Story
After suffering so much tragedy of late, it is heartwarming to see the valiant effort put forth by Malaysia Airlines’ to rally the rakyat’s support and emphaty. This 10-minute long video carries a nostalgic theme to deliver its message of Malaysian unity. Media icons lend their support - the film features cameos by local celebrities Patrick Teoh, Fatimah Abu Bakar and Mano Maniam. Famous Malaysian songbird; Yuna provided a song (Langit) which completes the storytelling.
A Walk Through Time
From start to finish, ‘A Walk Through Time’ by Petronas blares the unity propaganda. Following two little friends on Merdeka day; then and now. Great backdrops and amazingly detailed sets truly transport the viewer back to the year and moment of Merdeka. Nothing surprising here but good effort though!
How To Know You’re Malaysian
Malaysian You-Tubers; The Ming Thing released a refreshing and funny take to commemorate Merdeka. The talented and enthusiastic filmmakers have carved a name for themselves alongside other successful Malaysian You-Tubers and are known for their hilarious but honest and sometimes sarcastic style.
