(Marketingmagazine.com.my) - Prashant Kumar, President World Markets Asia-Pacific, IPG Mediabrands was honoured with the Malaysian Media Conference (MMC) Person of The Year 2014 Award last Tuesday.
He was awarded the prestigious title by Margaret Lim, CEO, Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia at the 10th MMC which was themed ‘Mediatech in Marketing’.
Prashant was honoured for his innovation in the media specialist space as he has grown the agency from a 20 persons outfit to a 200 persons full-service Marketing agency and led UM Malaysia, a subsidiary of IPG Mediabrands Malaysia to become five-time ‘Agency of The Year’ winner at Malaysian Media Awards.
A passionate digital marketer and a champion of integrated communications planning, Prashant launched Rally, IPG Mediabrands’s social offering across Asia, headquartered in Malaysia. Rally provides services in the areas of social marketing strategy, peer-to-peer communications, advocacy management, conversation planning and social commerce. The social outfit has now been successfully launched in Europe, Nordics and LatAm, with over 17 offices in total.
Mid this year, Prashant announced the launch of Ingenuity, the first-in-market e-commerce outfit that will bring end-to-end online commerce solutions to its clients in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, yet another initiative under his guidance.
This fearless leader steered UM Malaysia to become one of the rare media agencies in the world to get an A+ rating by RECMA Paris three years in a row since 2009. He has also been a strong advocate of Hybrid talent in the industry, and today all media planners in IPG Mediabrands are both conversant with digital and offline media.
A firm believer in nurturing talent, Prashant rolled out the ‘Happiness Programme’ in Malaysia, the DNA of their internal culture, which has now been replicated globally by the IPG Mediabrands network.
At just 33 years of age, Prashant became the youngest agency head from Southeast Asia to be invited as the Cannes Media Lions jury in 2009. A frequent speaker at global conferences, Prashant has served as the jury at international awards events including as Festival of Media Asia 2011 Jury member and CampaignAsia Digital Media Awards 2011 jury member.
Prashant has been recognized as Global Agency Innovator of the year in 2012 by New York based Internationalist magazine and celebrated by the Wall Street Journal as the youngest regional president and a leading innovator in the industry.
As Regional President at IPG Mediabrands, Prashant oversees Southeast and North Asia markets of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.
