(Marketingmagazine.com.my) - You will never be bored waiting in line to pay for your groceries at Giant hypermarkets anymore, not with the all-new Giant TV Channel broadcasted in new LCD screens located at every single checkout lane in 26 selected Giant hypermarkets across Peninsular Malaysia – that amounts to more than 300 LCD screens expected to reach 5.7 million shoppers monthly.

Giant is the first hypermarket in Malaysia to offer its very own dedicated TV channel, available on such a large scale, borne from the joint collaboration between GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd and Redberry Ambient, and current content such as entertainment, news, games and music will be provided by exclusive partner Star Radio Group.

The launch was held at the Giant Hypermarket in USJ Subang Jaya on Tuesday, 23rd September, officiated by Dato’ (Dr) Siew Ka Wei, Group CEO for Redberry Media and Mr Ruben Brusch, Marketing Director for GCH Retail Malaysia.

Kudsia Kahar, COO for Star Radio Group highlighted that the partnership presented an opportunity for radio to go visual, which was too good a chance to miss. She went on to say that the content will be changed on a weekly basis. She also mentioned that this flexibility is important as radio content is largely spontaneous in nature.

Mr Tho Tuck Woh, Managing Director for Redberry Ambient who was also in attendance to witness the launch, cheekily called the collaboration a ‘three-way marriage', with content being the major player. He also mentioned that only a maximum of 8 advertisers will be accepted to maintain the quality and integrity of the content, which will include news alerts and reports, new recipes and even emergency PSAs.
