Astro PutraAstro marketing team bagged the Putra Malaysian Marketer of the Year 2016

(marketingmagazine.com.my) – Last Friday, top industry players gathered at The Majestic Kuala Lumpur decked in their finest to see if they would carry home a trophy for their brand at the Putra Brand Awards.

Spanning across 24 categories, the awards conveyed stories that captivated and inspired consumers through their various marketing communications initiatives. The winning brands were voted by more than 6,000 respondents through an independent nationwide survey.

“Now in its seventh year, the Putra Brand Awards have come to exemplify that value of ideation, one that solves business problems, drives influence, encourages content sharing – and generate profits,” said Andrew Lee, Organising Chairman of the Putra Brand Awards.

“The awards’ money-can’t buy proposition is unique because the input comes exclusively from consumers.” He added.
In total, 29 Gold awards, 30 Silver awards, and 43 Bronze awards and five special awards were presented to the winners.

Repeating its triple Gold win this year, Samsung won three Gold awards in the Communications Devices, IT and Office and Business Equipment, and Camera categories and a Silver award in the Personal, Household and Outdoor Appliances category.

Other leading Gold award winners included 100 Plus, Carlsberg, Colgate, Dettol, Dutch Lady, Dynamo, Gardenia, IKEA, Maxis, Maybank, Panasonic, Petronas, Taylor’s University, and Toyota.

Other Special awards were presented to U Mobile for Putra Most Enterprising Brand of the Year, Astro marketing team for Putra Malaysian Marketer of the Year, and Datuk Pang Chin Hin, Group Executive Chairman of Mamee-Double Decker as Putra Personality of the Year.

“At the core of strong brands is its business foundation and what the brand aspires to be,” said Dato’ Johnny Mun, President of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As).

“How you communicate is equally important as what you communicate. That’s why it’s important for 4As agencies to create campaigns that resonate with consumers through a compelling story and a guided visualisation.” Johnny added.
